Like some endangered species, there have been very few sightings of Sen. Lito Lapid attending the Senate sessions.
But believe it or not, Lapid was supposedly present in 53 of the 64 session days since the 14th Congress opened in July last year.
An unofficial tally of senators' attendance showed the movie star-turned-politician beat half of the chamber in terms of attendance.
Topping the list with their perfect attendance were Senate President Manny Villar and Senate President Pro-tempore Jinggoy Estrada.
They were followed by Senators Noynoy Aquino, 63 days present; Gringo Honasan, 61; Kiko Pangilinan, 61; Panfilo Lacson, 59; Joker Arroyo, 58; Bong Revilla, 57; Pia Cayetano, 56; Juan Ponce Enrile, 54; Loren Legarda, 52; Aquilino Pimentel, 51; Alan Peter Cayetano, 49; Chiz Escudero, 48; Jamby Madrigal, 46; Mar Roxas, 46; Miriam Santiago, 43; Migz Zubiri, 43, Richard Gordon, 43; Edgardo Angara, 40; Rodolfo Biazon, 40.
Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV has been marked absent in all 64 days of session. He remains in detention on charges of coup d'etat.
The number of absences includes the times when the senators came in late for the roll call and failed to register their attendance.
The official senate attendance report, however, is expected to show near-perfect attendance for most senators since their absences would likely be listed as "official mission" or "official leave".
