The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Thursday dismissed reports that there are three "mystery" people present at the house of ABS-CBN news anchor Ted Failon when his late wife was found at his daughter's bathroom.

"We don't have that kind of report. We (investigators) are meeting daily and we don't want our investigation to get mixed with those kinds of rumors. We request everybody to let us work. We like to approach this case with utmost prudence... We don't like gossips," NBI spokesman Ric Diaz told ABS-CBN's morning show, "Umagang Kay Ganda."

There were reports that at least three personalities, not members of Failon's household, were present at the news anchor's home when his wife, Trinidad Arteche-Etong, was found at their daughter's bathroom.

Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez asked the NBI to invite Failon's friend, real estate developer Delfin Lee, due to rumors that he helped the news anchor carry his wife from the bedroom to the bathroom.

Lee had denied the rumors, saying that policemen were already all over Failon's home when he arrived. He said he would be willing to face NBI investigators if invited.

Diaz, meanwhile, assured that the NBI will work daily for the closure of the "celebrated" case.

He said the NBI have plans to invite Failon and six other people, including the news anchor's household helpers and in-laws, to clarify some details that are "minute" but very important in "getting even, at the least, the approximation of the truth."

The spokesman said the NBI will start sending invitations to the Failons as soon as the investigators feel that family is well rested.

"Siguro pagkatapos na makapagpahinga sila. We also have a lot of things to do, like the evaluation of the evidences that have been turned over to us by the PNP. While we're doing this, the [Failon] family can rest for a while," Diaz said.

NBI lead investigator Arnel Dalumpines had said that they will invite some friends of the late Mrs. Etong to establish her behavior before the shooting incident.

Dalumpines said the statements that would be submitted by Mrs. Etong's friends would be referred to experts.
