Kris on 2016 polls: I want to start in big city
MANILA (UPDATE) – Kris Aquino on Friday said she is open to running for public office in the 2016 elections.
The President’s youngest sister said she may consider seeking a local position in a "big city."
“PNoy went to the Congress straight, he went to the Senate, but my dad started as a small town mayor. So I want to start in a big city,” she said.
Aquino is currently a registered voter in Makati, but she said she may seek office elsewhere because of the presence of the Binays.
"I'm now a voter in Makati, but open naman ako kasi alam ko na hindi matitibag ang mga Binay doon, so maghahanap nalang ako ng ibang siyudad sa Metro Manila, kung saan pwede,” she said.
Makati’s current mayor is the son of Vice President Jejomar Binay, Junjun Binay.
Aquino earlier expressed plans to run for a gubernatorial seat in her home province of Tarlac in 2016.
On Friday, Aquino campaigned with Team PNoy senatorial candidates Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero and Grace Poe in Tacloban City. -- With a report from Jenette Fariola-Ruedas, ABS-CBN News Tacloban
