MANILA - Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said the unsigned Janet Napoles affidavit disclosed on Tuesday is a “worthless piece of paper.”

She is referring to the documents submitted yesterday by former Senator Panfilo Lacson to the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.

Lacson earlier received the a list of names of people supposedly involved in the pork barrel scam from the Napoles camp.

De Lima said she is disappointed that the unsigned list and affidavit were released sans evidence that would back up the allegations.

The Senate earlier subpoenaed the list and affidavit given to her by Napoles.

She said, however, it may not be prudent to submit the documents by the deadline tomorrow since Napoles has yet to finish her entire story.

Napoles is still completing a supplemental affidavit, she said.

She added the businesswoman may be unable to submit on time because of the “sheer volume of information.”

She said she may seek an extension of the deadline for submission of the documents.

De Lima said the Department of Justice and the National Bureau of Investigation are not taking part in Napoles’ affidavit.

She said she does not want to be accused of influencing Napoles’ story. – from a report by Ina Reformina, ABS-CBN News
