MANILA - Technology Resource Center (TRC) director-general on leave Dennis Cunanan, one of those implicated in the multibillion-peso pork barrel scam, has reportedly left the country.

Radio station dzBB reported that Cunanan left Manila for an Asian country last April 5 on Delta Airlines Flight 630.

There is no confirmation yet if he has returned.

Last year, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) included Cunanan in its lookout bulletin list.

But from being a respondent, he is now a provisional state witness.

Cunanan told the Senate Blue Ribbon committee that Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Ramon Revilla Jr. personally talked to him by telephone to follow up on projects reportedly charged to their Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) with TRC as implementing agency.

The BI declined to confirm or deny if Cunanan is still out of the country.

The BI has been cautious in disclosing to the media the travel records of personalities involved in the scam.

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima recently reprimanded the bureau for revealing the travel records of Ruby Tuason, the former social secretary of then President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, who turned state witness in the pork barrel case against Senators Estrada and Revilla.

De Lima refused to confirm a report that Cunanan left the country last April 5.

“We cannot confirm such information. The WPP (witness protection program) has confidentiality rule to protect our witnesses,” she stressed. - with Edu Punay
