PNoy joins Global Day of Prayer
MANILA, Philippines – Three days before the Senate verdict on the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona, President Benigno Noynoy Aquino III joined the Global Day of Prayer at Victory Church in San Juan.
The Philippines is one of more than a hundred countries who joined the Global Day of Prayer, which claims to be the “largest prayer meeting in the world.”
The worldwide prayer meeting is a concerted effort by Christian churches worldwide.
In his speech on Saturday, President Aquino shared how prayer helped him in his family during the darkest days of martial law when his father was incarcerated.
He recounted that his family would pray every night at 8 p.m. to ask for help, guidance and strength.
He said that he always turn to prayer in his most desperate and darkest times as well as in his joyful and happy moments.
He said that prayer plays an important part of his life because it is through prayer that he interacts with the Lord.
The president also called on Filipinos to pray for peace, unity and prosperity for the country and guidance from the Lord to make the right decisions and policies concerning the country.
After Aquino’s speech, the Victory ministry prayed over him, led by Dr. Hugh White, founder and international director of Prayer Life Ministries, Bishop Jonel A. Balais, chairman of Intercessors of the Philippines and other bishops and pastors.
