Pimentel mulls raps vs Napoles, media

MANILA - Senator Jinggoy Estrada came to the defense of his mother, former Senator Loi Estrada by saying she is not involved in the pork barrel scam.

He said it was his mother’s late former chief of staff, Jake Acuña, who dealt with businesswoman Janet Napoles.

“Walang alam si mommy ko talaga. I already asked her. She was surprised why she was included in the list. So I think it was his late chief of staff [Jake Acuña] who was the one who was dealing with the office of Mrs. Napoles,” he said.

Both Estradas were named on the Napoles list. It also named 18 other former and incumbent senators.

The younger Estrada’s name first cropped up in the initial investigations.

The Office of the Ombudsman has found basis to file plunder and graft raps against him and colleagues, senators Juan Ponce Enrile and Bong Revilla.

Meanwhile, Senator Koko Pimentel plans to file perjury charges against Napoles for linking him to the pork scam.

He is also mulling libel charges against those who have allegedly maligned him, including members of the media.

Pimentel believes Napoles’ affidavit is part of a “grand deception.”

He also denied his father, former Senator Aquilino 'Nene' Pimentel Jr., was involved in the scam.

– with reports from Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
