MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Jinggoy Estrada on Friday said he would be “very, very honored” if he is chosen to be the running-mate of Vice-President Jejomar Binay in the 2016 election.

Estrada, son of former president Joseph Estrada, said he has not talked to Binay about a possible tandem in the 2016 polls. The vice-president has made no secret of his desire to run for president in 2016 but has yet to choose a running mate.

“Of course, we have this coalition with the party of Vice-President Binay, yung kanyang PDP-Laban, and the political party of former president Estrada where I am the president, the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino. It is a natural alliance where a lot of tongue-waggers say Binay-Jinggoy na pero actually, in fairness to the vice-president, wala kaming pinag-uusapan,” he said.

“Hindi pa humantong sa ganun. But, of course, if I am going to be considered to be his running mate, it’s very, very flattering. I will feel very, very honored,” he added.

Estrada said his potential vice-presidential run will depend on the surveys, if he will have a strong chance of winning the election.

He also said there are many vice-presidential wannabes including Sen. Francis Escudero, who publicly endorsed Binay in the 2010 elections. Aside from Escudero, he said the other potential VP aspirants are Senators Bongbong Marcos and Bong Revilla.

Asked about the possibility that Escudero might have higher survey numbers, he said: “Alam mo, marami pang pwedeng mangyari. At pwede naming idaan sa usapan yan.”
