MANILA - The Supreme Court (SC) has directed the Sandiganbayan to proceed with the raffle of the plunder and graft cases on the pork barrel scam on Friday.
Sandiganbayan spokesperson Renato Bocar said the anti-graft court on Wednesday received a letter from the high court ordering them to proceed with the regular raffle of the cases filed by the Office of the Ombudsman.
Raffles are regularly held on Friday mornings.
The SC also required the Sandiganbayan to comment on the request of the Ombudsman for the creation of two special divisions in the anti-graft court to exclusively handle the pork barrel scam cases.
If special divisions are created, the raffled cases will just be transferred.
The Ombudsman last week filed before the Sandiganbayan plunder charges against Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. and Jinggoy Estrada as well as Janet Lim Napoles over the multibillion-peso pork barrel scam.
Also included in the charge sheet are Revilla's staff Richard Cambe, Estrada's former staff Pauline Labayen, Enrile's former chief of staff Jessica "Gigi" Reyes, Ronald John Lim, and John Raymund de Asis.
On Monday, the Ombudsman filed graft charges against the three senators and Napoles.
Also facing graft charges are Budget Undersecretary Mario Relampagos, and heads of implementing agencies who were allegedly involved in the misuse of pork barrel funds.
