MANILA - Local government units (LGU) and the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) must keep preparing for the onset of the monsoon season, a Palace official said Friday.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte reiterated the need for LGUs to suspend classes on time, especially now that the rainy season has begun.

"Just a gentle reminder that class suspension should be made on time. Kasi marami din po kaming nakukuhang feedback from parents and from universities and other schools na minsan daw po nala-late yata 'yung LGUs. So, again, a gentle reminder to all our LGUs that the particular EO states a specific time kung kailan po dapat maibigay 'yung anunsiyo," she added.

Valte also lauded the MMDA for always assisting motorists, especially when it floods.

"They're always on top to assist motorists when it comes to easing the flow of traffic, lalo kapag nagkakaroon po tayo ng baha in different parts of the metro."
