MANILA – Senator Ramon ''Bong'' Revilla Jr. on Monday started visiting various areas in Metro Manila in a bid to clear his name over the pork barrel scam.

Revilla dropped by Barangay 598 in Old Sta. Mesa, Manila before noon. Accompanied by his friend, actor Philip Salvador, Revilla is also set to visit Pandacan in Manila, Malabon City, and Navotas City.

Revilla dropped by Dasmariñas City and Silang, Cavite last Saturday.

The senator has been accused of pocketing about P242 million from his Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) by allegedly funneling them to fake non-government organizations.

He has denied this allegation, saying his signatures in the PDAF releases were forged.

Sixteen graft cases and one plunder case were filed against Revilla before the Sandiganbayan. These will be handled by the anti-graft court's 1st division, chaired by Associate Justice Efren dela Cruz.

Revilla, who could be considered the 2016 standard-bearer of Lakas – Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD), denied his visits are part of his strategy for the elections.

He said he only wants to thank his supporters and explain to them the pork barrel scam issue. – with a report from Noel Alamar, dzMM
