TOKYO - Philippine President Gloria Arroyo arrived in Japan Wednesday for a working visit likely to focus on economic ties and a bilateral free trade agreement.

She will meet Prime Minister Taro Aso as well as Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko during her stay through Saturday, officials said.

Arroyo and then-prime minister Junichiro Koizumi signed an economic partnership agreement in 2006, Manila's first bilateral free trade deal.
