MANILA - Pope Francis will get to see significant improvements in Yolanda-struck areas when he visits next year.

CBCP News quoted Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery Panfilo Lacson as saying, “There will be a massive infusion of resources the moment the president approves the rehabilitation plans in these areas…He (Pope) will see a different level (of improvement), depending on the date of his visit.”

At present, the recovery is only at 25 percent, he said.

Lacson could not say if the recovery will be 100 percent by the time the Pope visits typhoon victims.

“If you are being rated, you look at standards in other countries. That is why I think we are not lagging behind,” he said.

Nonetheless, both local and national governments are already doing their best to prepare for the papal visit, he added.

Pope Francis will visit the Philippines in January next year, particularly in areas devastated by Yolanda.
