MANILA - Social media users have mixed reactions over the imminent arrest of Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr.
The First Division of the Sandiganbayan on Thursday drafted the arrest warrants of Revilla and others involved in the alleged plunder of pork barrel funds.
However, the warrants were not yet signed when the anti-graft court's office closed at 4:30 p.m., said Sandiganbayan Clerk of Court Estella Teresita Rosete
This means the earliest that Revilla can be served the warrant will be Friday, at 8 a.m.
On Thursday, TV Patrol asked on Facebook and Twitter, "Kumbinsido ka bang senyales ang mga nakaambang pag-aresto na bibilis na ang usad ng PDAF scam cases?"
While some netizens welcomed the decision by the Sandiganbayan as a positive development on the pork barrel scam cases, many are still doubtful of the process.
Others hope that the government is not only up for a show and everyone involved in the alleged multibillion-peso scam will be arrested regardless of political affiliations.
Meanwhile, Twitter user Euan Tyler said that whatever happens, he hopes that the pork barrel scam will constantly remind government officials that the public is keeping a close watch on their moves.
Revilla already said he is ready to surrender once the Sandiganbayan issues an arrest warrant against him.
"Huwag nila tayong bababuyin. Dahil kung bababuyin pa nila yung aking pagkatao eh, handa na akong mamatay nun," he said.
