GMA book publisher doesn't want to be named
MANILA, Philippines - Palace officials are proud of what President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has achieved in her 9-year presidency, but the publisher of a book about how she beat the odds apparently does not share the sentiment.
A private entity that published the "Beating the Odds" book on the Arroyo administration does not want to be named, the president's spokesperson said.
"Gusto na hong hindi magpakilala. May nakalagay doong pangalan [sa libro], pero the actual entity behind it would like to remain private ho (The publisher does not want to be named. A name will be there to indicate, but the actual entity behind it would like to remain private)," presidential spokesperson Ricardo Saludo, one of the authors of the book, told radio dzMM in an interview on Wednesday.
Saludo could not provide an explanation why the publisher does not want to be named. "Hindi ko masasabi. Iyon ang sabi sa amin na wag na raw pangalanan (I could not say. That's the publisher's request, not to be named)."
Based on time-series surveys conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS), President Arroyo will go down in history as the most unpopular president post-1986.
She hit rock bottom in March 2010 when her net satisfaction rating fell to negative 53 (16% satisfied minus 60% dissatisfied) or "very bad," based on SWS's terminology.
PIA publishes other book
Another book, "Beat The Odds" will be published by the government, through the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).
Saludo said the "Beat The Odds" book enumerates the accomplishments of various government agencies, while the other book details the "inside story" behind the accomplishments.
He said the government's contributions to the "Beating The Odds" book are the official documents given to the authors, and interviews with officials about the inside story of the accomplishments.
Saludo said the book discusses the numerous crises faced by the Arroyo administration, including the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak in 2002, the Oakwood Mutiny in 2003, terrorism, peace process, the drug menace, and the budget crisis.
Saludo said the “Beating the Odds” book will be sold at Fully Booked and Powerbooks at P400 each.
He said the PIA may decide to distribute the “Beat The Odds” for free to the different government agencies, Philippine embassies, foreign ambassadors in the country, international agencies, chambers of commerce, state universities and colleges, and some private learning institutions.
In a recent interview on ABS-CBN's Umagang Kay Ganda (UKG), activist lawmaker Teodoro Casiño said the Arroyo administration will be remembered for 3 things: the “Hello, Garci” election fraud scandal, the overpriced NBN-ZTE telecommunications deal, and all her unfulfilled promises, especially her "dismal human rights record."
These controversies were reportedly not included in these books.
“She will be remembered as the most hated president in history…who faced possible impeachment at least 4 times,” Casiño said.
Dont worry
every person who knows about the Philippines will remember her, but not for what she likes them to.
Most will remember her for her corrupt and dishonest ways, how she stole from the poor and gave to the rich. She's the exact opposite of Robin Hood.
The people will remember her for putting corrupt people into government positions and for acting as if the country is HERS, take whatever she needed for her own good.
The people will remember and rejoice the day she was replaced and hope that their children never have to face a president like her again.
As far as I concern, she was worse then two Marcos.
But there will be a day when she will have to pay for her way of ruining this beautiful country and I hope it will be painful and full of misery.
Go away and don’t ever come back.
THIS BOOK ARE ALL LIES!!!
No wonder why the publisher itself don't want to share the glory of the success {As what Malacanang said} in the launching of this book. This book is an insult to the capacity and intellect of each Filipinos. Just another deceitful SONA.
Try to interview and ask the contributors of this book once GMA steps down, and the truth will surely come out!!!
ARROYO'S SELF-SERVING BOOK
Gloria will do all means, including lie and cheat, just to lift it's own image. We all know that whe has a credibility problem, so why bother to read a book that is self-serving. It's really funny Malacanang release two books, innumerating Gloria's "alleged" achievements. There is no doubt she has done some good to the country. In the same manner, there is no doubt she is the most corrupt president the Philippines ever have. In conclusion, she will not be remembered for her achievements, no matter how many these may be. On the contrary, she will be remembered as the most corrupt president, a cheater in the election. So all these efforts by Malacanang to parade the achievements GMA are all uselss and in futile. Just watch and see.
