Josephine 'Jo' Martinez Ramos, a singer and wife of actor Lloyd Samartino, died at 1 a.m. due to lung cancer.
She was 54.
She previously had surgery to address the cancer, but the treatment did not work.
Her remains were brought to Kamagong Chapel in Funeraria Paz in Sucat, Parañaque City on Monday afternoon.
Lloyd and Jo separated in 2004, according to a Manila Bulletin report. They have one child.
Mr. Ramos has five daughters with wife Amelita.
Mr. and Mrs. Ramos arrived at Funeraria Paz at around 1 p.m.
In a statement, President Aquino extended his "deepest sympathies to former President and Mrs. Fidel V. Ramos on the untimely passing of their daughter."
"Ms. Ramos’ love for, and accomplishments, in music, was testimony to the musical passion she shared with her mother; and in athletics, she participated in the national team that gained distinction for the country in the SEA Games in the 1970s," Aquino said.
"The loss of any loved one is grave, indeed; the demise of a child is particularly painful for parents. The President assures former President and Mrs. Ramos that he will keep their entire family in his thoughts and prayers at this time of deep loss." - with a report from RG Cruz, ABS-CBN News
