MANILA - Despite the health department's new policies on the influenza A (H1N1) flu virus, Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said President Arroyo will quarantine herself for 10 days after she returns to Manila on Monday night from her working visit to Japan and Brazil.

The president and her delegation are currently on a side trip to Hong Kong to meet with executives of the Shangri-la Group of resorts and hotels, and her foreign anti-graft consultant Anthony Kuok.

In its latest advisory, the health department said arriving passengers do not need to quarantine themselves if they do not have flu-like symptoms.

But Health Secretary Francisco Duque said the new policy was not ordered in time for President Arroyo's arrival.

Meanwhile, it's back to work on Monday for about 3,000 employees of the House of Representatives after it suspended operations for six days due to H1N1 infections.

The employees were greeted by a thermal scanner to check their temperatures before coming to work.

Those without fever are given stickers that say "fever free".

Those with flu-like symptoms are brought to the house clinic.

In a statement, House Speaker Prospero Nograles said there is no need to postpone President Arroyo's last State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 27 due to the H1N1 cases in the chamber. -- reports from ANC
