Cunanan pleads not guilty to graft
MANILA - Former Technology Resource Center (TRC) director general Dennis Cunanan pleaded not guilty to two counts of graft before the Sandiganbayan Third Division on Wednesday.
Cunanan was conditionally arraigned since the anti-graft court has yet to find probable cause in the pork barrel scam case against Senator Juan Ponce Enrile and the other respondents.
Cunanan had to be conditionally arraigned because he is asking the court to allow him to travel to Japan and the United States for a conference of the Junior Chamber International as its world secretary general.
The court now has to decide whether the former TRC official will be allowed to travel.
According to Cunanan's lawyer, Odessa Bernardo, her client is not a flight risk. "Bumalik nga siya ng bansa," she said.
Cunanan also has pending motions to travel before the Sandiganbayan First and Fifth Divisions where he is also facing graft charges.
Meanwhile, Enrile's deputy chief of staff Jose Antonio Evangelista posted P450,000 bail for 15 counts of graft before the Third Division.
Like the other accused personalities in Enrile's pork barrel scam case, Evangelista posted bail even if a warrant of arrest has yet to be issued by the court.
