MANILA - Former president Corazon Aquino, who is battling colon cancer, is “comfortable” and “not in pain,” assured her celebrity daughter, Kris Aquino, Sunday.
Kris broke down in tears on “The Buzz” as she thanked all those who are continuously praying for the speedy recovery of her mother.
“She is comfortable. She is not in pain. And to this day she makes us feel so loved and appreciated. Sa gitna po ng iyak at luha nakakangiti po kami dahil mahal niyo ang nanay namin at wala na kaming mahihiling pa,” Kris said.
Mrs. Aquino, Kris confirmed, would remain hospitalized at the Makati Medical Center “indefinitely.” The former leader had to be confined due to a fluid buildup in her stomach that made it difficult for her to eat.
Kris appealed for public understanding as her family decided to keep her condition “private for now.” She, however, assured that her mother is aware that Filipinos are praying for her.
She added: “We know that whatever will happen is part of [God’s] will. He has been good to us particularly my family kasi nabigyan niya kami ng pagkakataon na maiparamdam sa mom namin kung gaano namin siya kamahal and how much people really love her.”
The actress and television host was especially touched by an article that appeared on The Philippine Star Sunday, saying it highlighted what her mother has been telling her family from the very start.
“We all need to pray for each other. That’s what we’ve been doing and that’s what you’ve been doing for her,” she said.
She said she will continue to go to work because her parents had taught her to remain brave and strong amid the trials.
“On behalf of the Aquino family, on behalf of my mother, maraming maraming salamat po,” she said.
