MANILA - Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Saturday said he pities his colleague, Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, who is now under the custody of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame.

But Trillanes told radio dzMM this is only the first step to achieving justice on the multibillion-peso pork barrel scam.

"In a way (naaawa), pero marami kasing nag-aantay nito... Sa akin, tinitingnan ko lang ito as part, the first step dito sa justice process natin," he said.

"Pero kapag nakikita niyo kasi yung isang 90-year-old na ganyan, ilalagay sa ganyang posisyon, you cannot help but feel sad about how he threw away all those opportunities to be a very good public servant," he added.

Enrile on Friday turned himself in after the Sandiganbayan Third Division ordered his arrest for plunder and graft charges over the pork barrel anomaly.

Enrile, whose blood pressure rose to 200/90 during his booking procedure, is temporarily confined at the PNP General Hospital.

Trillanes gave a piece of advice to Enrile as well as the two other senators implicated in the pork barrel scam -- Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. and Jinggoy Estrada.

Both Revilla and Estrada are detained at the PNP Custodial Center.

"Kailangan nilang tanggapin yung sitwasyon. Huwag nilang labanan para hindi mabigat at mabagal yung adjustment process."

"Pag nag-self pity ka, sinisisi mo yung ibang tao, nagre-regret ka, pag ganyan ang ipinairal niyo sa inyong isipan, delikado po yan. Hindi kayo makakapag-adjust," said Trillanes.

Trillanes was also detained during the Arroyo administration for mounting the Oakwood mutiny in 2003 and Peninsula siege in 2007.
