Lacierda mum on whether to redeploy PH ships to Scarborough

MANILA, Philippines - A decision has been made by President Aquino on how to deal with China over the ongoing territorial dispute but Malacañang would not disclose it.
Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said the decision was made during the Cabinet meeting held Thursday where issues on the country’s relations with China were discussed.
But the meeting was held in executive session because "security matters were discussed."
Staff members were asked to leave the Aguinaldo State Dining Room where the meeting was held and only Cabinet members were allowed to stay.
"The President ordered—hindi ‘yan request—directed that the meeting be conducted in executive session," Lacierda said.
Lacierda declined to say whether a decision has been made to redeploy Philippine vessels to Scarborough Shoal.
Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and Senator Antonio Trillanes were also present in the meeting. Lacierda said the President wanted to consult congressional members on the issue.
Lacierda said, however, that there was no discussion on the budget and on Enrile’s proposal to amend the Constitution to allow bigger military spending.
Lacierda denied there was a heated discussion, describing the meeting as "healthy."
