MANILA - Malacanang is hoping that something positive will come out of the exploratory talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), which is set to begin again on Monday, July 8.

“Let us wait for the details tomorrow. We don’t want it to go the way of the memorandum of agreement on ancestral domain. The annexes agreed on shall pass legal scrutiny,” deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte told radio dzRB on Sunday.

It has been more than two months since the government and the MILF peace panels had their last exploratory talks in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

They were supposed to meet again after the elections but have been instead exchanging notes on sensitive issues, such as on wealth- and power-sharing.

Because of the delays, the MILF earlier questioned whether President Benigno Aquino III was serious in pushing for the creation of the political entity before he steps down from office.
