Former president Corazon Aquino is responding well to chemotherapy treatment for colon cancer, her son, Sen. Benigno Aquino III said.

"It was surprising that her condition is getting better. The first chemotherapy she had gone through used older prescription drugs. Some said that they may no longer be effective, but we are glad that her body responded well", the son said during the induction of the local chapter members of the Liberal Party on Saturday.

The younger Aquino said that doctors told him that his mother is “70 to 75 percent cured of her sickness”.

He also said that the former president went out of town for the first time last Saturday with her doctors for a tour of the Aquino Center and other places in Tarlac.

The senator thanked those who prayed and continuing to pray for his mother who was diagnosed with colon cancer in December 2007. He added that he hopes people would continue to pray for his mother’s full recovery. With Yasmin Pascual-Dormido, ABS-CBN Bacolod
