He also called for transparency on the president’s health status.

Former president Joseph Estrada has jokingly taken issue at a probe launched by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on the leakage of information concerning President Arroyo’s breast implants at a local hospital.

Estrada was the guest speaker at the induction ceremonies of the Manila Medical Society Thursday.
The former president took a jab at the investigation the National Bureau of Investigation is conducting which was launched “due to alleged violation of doctor-patient confidentiality.”

“There are so many cases of killings, ambushes bombings and other heinous crimes that need to be investigated,” Estrada said. “I hope that no doctor in this assembly tonight is under investigation by the NBI for being talkative and revealing the truth about the very important patient.”

Estrada also joked to the doctors about President Arroyo’s cosmetic enhancements.

“Sabagay hindi naman ako kasi pious living. Alam niyo ba ang ibig sabihin ng pious living? Ibig sabihin noon, paayos nang paayos. If you are among those who talked about implants, I hope you do not get quarantined for life,” said Estrada.

The former president conceded that the issue of President Arroyo’s breast enhancement is a personal issue. He said, however that the health situation of the president is a serious public concern.

Estrada said that during his term as president he was never secretive of his health situation. He said that national security is stake.

Estrada said that the president’s breast implants problem as well as the biopsy conducted on the president are serious matters and stressed that Malacañang should have been more transparent.

Philippine Star columnist Jarius Bondoc and the Manila Bulletin first broke the news about President Arroyo's breast enhancements last week after Mrs. Arroyo allegedly went on self-imposed quarantine following a trip abroad.

Malacañang spokesmen initially denied the report but later admitted that the President had breast implants done in the 80s.

Dr. Raul Guanzon, a cosmetic surgeon, confirmed Thursday that President Arroyo underwent excision biopsy at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Muntinlupa City last week after experiencing pain in her left breast. With a report from RG Cruz, ABS-CBN News.com
