MANILA, Philippines - Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant Vice-Admiral Edmund Tan on Thursday said he will comply with a decision by the Sandiganbayan 4th Division that ordered his suspension for 90 days.

Tan, in a press conference, said he respects the resolution but denied that the decision had anything to do with graft and corruption charges.

He said the suspension stems from a violation of the Philippine Merchant Marine Rules and Regulations wherein a complaint was filed against him for allegedly holding in abeyance the shipment of iron ore cargo on board a barge with no anchors back in September 2007 when he was still the District Commander of Central Eastern Visayas.

Tan said the issue "has dragged for so long and up to now, no decision has been made to resolve the case."

He said that he still has faith in the judicial system.

"I am confident tht eventually, my case will be resolved in my favor. I am hoping and praying that this will be done so in the soonest possible time," he said.
