A ‘beso-beso’ between Imelda and Noynoy
MANILA, Philippines - It's another sign of the changing of the times.
During the celebration of the 33rd birthday of Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay on Monday night, former First Lady Imelda Marcos kissed President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III on the cheek.
Marcos was first to approach the President, a move that electrified even the most jaded in the room.
Marcos is, of course, the wife of the late strongman Ferdinand E. Marcos.
Aquino’s father, Benigno "Ninoy", was assassinated in August 1983 triggering massive protests that brought down the Marcos dictatorship in February 1986.
This may not be the last time that both families will be seeing each other, at least in the political arena.
Marcos won as district representative of Ilocos Norte. Her son, Ferdinand Jr. or Bongbong, is now a senator.
Both earlier committed to supporting the Aquino in case he delivers on his promises.
The younger Marcos was quoted in an earlier interview as saying “considering where we were, where we ended up and where we are again, I think that we are good illustration of that saying in the Philippines that ‘the world is round.’”
Binay’s birthday celebration was also attended by former President Joseph Estrada.
Bongbong and sister Imee also surprised the nation when they attended the wake the late President Corazon Aquino in August 2009.
halik ni hudas
Pangulong Noynoy,
Lagi ka sanang mag-iingat sa mga nakapaligid sa iyo, lalong lalo na sa Bise mo at sa Halik ni Hudas.
