Daughter admits Cory Aquino is in pain
MANILA – Former president Corazon Aquino, who is fighting Stage 4 colon cancer, is “in pain,” her daughter, television host-actress Kris Aquino, admitted Sunday.
Kris appealed to the public “to pray with us please that the suffering would be lessened.”
The teary-eyed host-actress said: “I’m only sharing this with you (public) because you’ve been on this journey with us. Kung ilang oras, kung ilang araw, ilang linggo, ilang buwan pa ang ibibigay ni God, sana po tulungan ninyo kami na magdasal na huwag na lang lalo pang mahirapan ang mom. Kasi talagang nakakadurog ng puso kapag nakikita siyang hirap na hirap.”
She also announced on “The Buzz” that she might not appear in her television shows in the next few weeks to be with her mother in these “very difficult times.” Kris is hosting "The Buzz" and "SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon."
“Ayokong magkaroon ng regrets na bakit ako pumasok sa trabaho when I could have been in the hospital,” she said.
She confessed that it is hard for her to entertain people when her heart is breaking. She said it is difficult for her and her family to watch their mother battle the disease.
She reiterated that they are thankful to the public for the outpouring of prayers and love, noting that these are giving them strength in order to face their ordeal.
As for her part, however, she admitted that it is already hard for her to remain strong.
“For whatever time left, I want to be beside my mom. The same with all my siblings… Again on behalf of the family, thank you to everybody na inuunawa kami, pinagdasal ang mom,” she said.
Kris had earlier said she is setting aside shooting for her movies to focus on her ailing mother.
Aquino was diagnosed with colon cancer last year and has been confined at the Makati Medical Center since June 25 for loss of appetite.
The current health condition of the former president remains stable. However, no one knows how long she will stay in the hospital.
