MANILA - The House of Representatives has set aside around P2.2 million to host Monday’s State of the Nation Address and the opening of the 2nd regular session of the 16th Congress.

Secretary General Marilyn Barua-Yap said: "Like before, it’s not going to exceed P2.2 million. Baka mas marami kaming matipid kasi yung aming external things like prepping up ng facilities nag-donate po ang MMDA, DPWH and Quezon City local government.”

Yap expects food expenses to take up the biggest expense, followed by costs for publication for the literature they are preparing for the event, such as accomplishment reports and compilations of speeches, invocations and abstracts of measures passed.

The lower House will also have a new flag, while the plenary session hall was repainted, and its air conditioning and sound systems fixed.

As many as 1,000 guests are expected at the Batasan for the SONA.

The complex will be secured by the internal security of the Lower House, together with the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines and Presidential Security Group.

There is strictly no invitation, no entry to the session hall.
The south gate will be used by the VIPs while the general public will be allowed to use the north gate.

The rear entrance will be closed.
