MANILA - Administration allies in the House of Representatives said they will not inhibit from the impeachment case against President Benigno Aquino III.
Justice Committee Chairman Niel Tupas Jr., an ally of Aquino, said the lawmakers who also received Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) funds should also not be pressured to inhibit.
The committee will be the one to handle the impeachment complaints.
Oriental Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali said his staff is still checking if his office has received DAP funds. Nonetheless, he said he will not inhibit.
As vice chairman of the justice committee, Umali said he has a responsibility to follow his mandate.
Caloocan Rep. Edgar Erice earlier confirmed he has a flood control program in his district that was funded by DAP. The project is worth P40 million.
Iloilo City Rep. Jerry Treñas said there was P10 million worth of farm to market roads in his district. He said it was distributed to three barangays and implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways. – from a report by Jon Ibanez, dzMM
