MANILA, Philippines - The Senate's session was adjourned shortly after it opened and all employees were allowed to go home early on Tuesday because of the bad weather.

Before adjourning, the Senate passed SB 2817, otherwise known as "An act defining and penalizing the crime of enforced or involuntary disappearance," which imposes a jail term of 20 to 40 years on perpetrators of involuntary disappearances.

Senators also elected Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV as a member of the Senate Electoral Tribunal.
