Marcoses offer prayers for Cory, too
MANILA - The family of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos is also one with the nation in prayers for the recovery of former President Corazon Aquino from colon cancer.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs Aquino and her family in this difficult moment. I know how her family feels because we also went through the same experience with my father," Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said in a statement on Wednesday.
"Let's drop politics on this one and just wish the former President peace in her heart and comfort in her pains. We believe in the power of prayers and that God serves as our best weapon against problems, trials, and difficulties in life," he added.
Former First Lady Imelda Marcos had earlier also offered her prayers for Mrs. Aquino.
Then opposition leader Corazon Aquino was propelled to the presidency in February 1986 after a fraudulent election and a "people power" revolt that toppled the Marcos dictatorship.
She restored democracy and paved the way for the adoption of a new Constitution with democratic safeguards.
Marcos died in exile in Hawaii in 1989.
Solons and House of Representatives employees also offered a healing mass for President Aquino on Wednesday. -- by Carmela Fonbuena, abs-cbnNEWS.com/Newsbreak
