VP Binay wants bigger budget for 2011
MANILA, Philippines - Running counter to President Aquino's call for belt-tightening measures, Vice-President Jejomar Binay on Friday said he is requesting a bigger budget from the Department of Budget and Management for his office in 2011.
Binay refused to quote an exact amount but said it was higher than the P180 million annual budget of the Office of the Vice-President. He did not say if the higher budget will be used for the renovations of his new office next year.
"We requested for a little increase. We already sent it and we are waiting for our meeting with the budget secretary," he told reporters.
The Vice-President earlier said he wanted a bigger office than the one he is currently using at the Philippine National Bank (PNB) building in Pasay City. Earlier reports said Binay is eyeing the Coconut Palace as his new official residence.
President Aquino earlier chose the Bahay Pangarap mansion inside Malacañang Park as his new official residence. He said he does not want to live in Malacañang Palace as it is too big for a bachelor like him.
Binay was recently named head of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC).

Binay sana na man ay para sa mga projects na nakabubuti sa marami ang budget nf VP at hindi para sa renovation ng office mo. Galing ka sa mahirap as you claim kaya dapat lang na marunong ka rin magtiis.

First he should prrof that he is worth the extra money.
I cant understand why he needs a bigger office, lots of people in the Philippines work in small offices and do a lot more HONEST work then he.

Bigger Cut
Let us call a spade a spade. Bigger budget means bigger kupit. His record in Makati is tainted with so much corruption. It is not hard to prove. Nobody has the political will to pursue his cases.
Bigger budget...bigger this...bigger that...
It only proves that Binay can only do good things when he has so much resources.
I was not impressed when he was the mayor of Makati. With Makati's large tax income, they still owed BIR big time.
He should first show accomplishments with the limited resources he has right now before justifying that he could do more with more resources.
Baka HUDCC at OVP naman ang mabaun sa utang sa BIR!
