Aquino: Don't name any gov't project after me

MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III on Thursday instructed agencies not to name any government project after him.

Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said Aquino is encouraging other officials to do the same, since government projects are paid for by taxpayers. Thus, taxpayers are the ones who should be recognized.

Lacierda clarified, however, that various billboards with the President's pictures on them were put up by supporters.

He also said that he will ask the President about this matter.

On Wednesday, Sen. Francis Escudero filed a bill that proposes to outlaw naming of government projects after politicians or any other person.

Under the previous government, many official projects were accompanied by billboards with photos of former President Arroyo. In the case of pork barrel projects, the name of the legislator who endorsed the project is also publicized. -- With a report from Timi Nubla, ABS-CBN News

Don't they name government projects after a person when they are dead already? ABNoy Highway or PeeNoy Bridge don't sound good nor eye-catching!

Dpat lang naman hindi lang na ginamit nang mga mayor at congressman para papugi sa personal interes nila. "THRU THE EFFORT OF CONGRESSMAN " binabayaran ka ng buwis galing sa tao trabajo mo yan. Dapat ang isulat sa billboard " 5% commission ako sa project na to " d ba honest ka pa sa mata ng tao.

Don't name after him gov't project but to his martyrd father Ninoy and iconic mother Cory.

How about PNoy's discriminatory policy on the re-appointments of Arroyo midnight appointees in GOCC, gov't agencies, judiciary?

Corrupt "Padrinos" are taking over PNoys administration.

Talagang iba si "wang-wang" PNoy.

confirm na itong si noy2mar eh walang alam sa mga issue ng lipunan...huwag ka na lang magcomment dito nakakababa ka ng mga utak ng mabuting pinoy. Pinoy are smarter than what your little brain is capable of anylizing issues.

kakatuwa talaga itong Ngoyngoy na 'to, ano na naman yang lumalabas sa bibig mo na wag ipangalan sayo, bakit ano ba ang ipapangalan, eh alam mo naman at ng 15milyon mong bobotante na wala kang accomplishment, kaya wag mo ng sabihin na wag ipapangalan sayo, dahil wala kang nagawa at magagawa...
