MANILA - The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has not yet recommended suspension of work on Tuesday because rains might ease overnight, the agency's executive director said.

NDRRMC Executive Director Benito Ramos said they are still monitoring the situation in Metro Manila and are assisting the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and local government units deal with evacuation and flooding.

Ramos said there is no recommendation for a blanket suspension of classes and work because under the protocol, LGUs have the authority to decide since they know the situation on the ground.

Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte also said there is no blanket suspension that will be coming from the Office of the President since the "LGUs are point [offices] on that."

PAGASA has issued a red alert warning over Metro Manila as heavy rains flooded many areas. Among the impassable roads where water level, as of posting, has reached at least 50 inches are Araneta Ave. in Quezon City, R. Papa in Manila, Leon Guinto in Taft Ave., C3 in A. Bonifacio.
