Bello: I may have seen Napoles in Malacanang
MANILA, Philippines - The businesswoman accused as the brains behind the alleged pork barrel scam may have been in Malacañang before, 1-BAP Party-list Representative Silvestre Bello III said Wednesday.
Bello, who served as justice secretary in the recent administration, thinks he might have seen Janet Lim-Napoles once in Malacañang during the term of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
"Ako siguro nakita ko na si Napoles pero I didn’t get the opportunity to meet her," Bello said. "Napadalaw siya sa Malacañang noong araw pero I didn’t even know that she is that Napoles noon. "
"I think panahon yata ni GMA pero earlier part... kaya nga hindi ako sure nang makita ko sa TV, parang nakita ko na ito sa Malacañang, ganoon ang nasa isip ko," said Bello.
Napoles has been embroiled into the alleged P10-billion scam that used the pork barrel of senators and congressmen for ghost projects over the past 10 years.
The lawmaker said he does not know what Napoles was doing in Malacañang that time. He said the businesswoman was "one of the persons passing" and was just "one of the visitors."
"Yun lang ang hindi ko alam, kung sino ang dinalaw niya. Ang dami namang opisyales doon sa Malacañang eh," he said.
