Lacierda responds to petition, takes train
MANILA -- Malacañang on Thursday made an assurance that the public will feel the effects of traffic-easing schemes within the term of President Aquino.
Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda also said that improvements are being made to the integrated bus terminals to address the complaints and concerns of the commuters.
Reacting to an online petition on Change.org for public officials to ride public transport to get a pulse of the commuters' experience, Lacierda said the government has been able to identify the problems that need to be addressed.
He added that he himself just took a train ride yesterday.
"Ang feeling nila, ang government officials are hindi sumasakay at hindi nila alam ang problema... that's not how we look at problems," Lacierda said.
"We are cognizant of the concerns, the problems of the people. What is more important is that we are able to identify the problem correctly. So that as we identify the problems correctly, we will be able to provide the proper solutions," he added.
