Probe set vs 'pork barrel scam' whistleblowers
MANILA – The Manila Prosecutor's Office has set the preliminary investigation into perjury charges filed by Janet Lim Napoles against the so-called whistleblowers of the multi-billion peso pork barrel scam and the P900-million Malampaya Fund mess.
Former Napoles aide Benhur Luy; his parents, Arturo and Gertrudes; his brother, Arthur; and, Merlina Sunas, a former employee of Napoles' JLN Group of Companies, were named respondents in the complaint.
They were directed to appear before handling fiscal, Asst. City Prosecutor Philger Noel Inovejas, on Aug. 28 and Sept. 4.
The complaint stemmed from the serious illegal detention case filed by the Luys against Napoles and her brother, Reynald, with the Department of Justice main office that led to the filing of a criminal case before the Makati City trial court.
Napoles claimed that the respondents lied in their sworn statements.
