Two more witnesses to come out vs Napoles - lawyer
MANILA - Two more witnesses will come out to support whistleblower Benhur Luy’s allegations against Janet Lim-Napoles, a lawyer said.
In an interview with radio dzMM, lawyer Levito Baligod said the two witnesses have already issued handwritten statements against Napoles, their former employer.
He said these witnesses receive cash on Napoles’ behalf at her home. These witnesses, believed to be Napoles’ house helpers, then hide the money in different areas of the house.
“Kasama sila sa pagtanggap ng salapi na dumarating sa bahay ni Ginang Napoles. At sila rin ang nagsasalansan sa bathtub, sa kama, sa master’s bedroom, he said.
Baligod alleged Napoles needed to maintain “cash liquidity” in case she would need to deliver money to someone.
Napoles and her brother Reynald “Jojo” Lim is now wanted by authorities after a Makati court issued warrants of arrest against them for alleged serious illegal detention of Luy.
Baligod dismissed the claims of Napoles that she was never the boss of Luy. In an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Napoles said she knew Luy’s boss but declined to give details.
Luy and Napoles are cousins. He came out in the open to tag her in a scheme to allegedly divert lawmakers’ pork barrel to ghost projects.
“Mahirap paniwalaan yan kasi araw-araw syang pumapasok sa JLN Corp.,” Baligod said.
Because of such closeness, Luy would know if Napoles indeed got her money from a coal project in Indonesia if there ever was one. Napoles claimed in the same interview with the Inquirer that her wealth came from several businesses.
“Kung meron man ay hindi nya yun maitatago kay Benhur,” Baligod said.
