MANILA, Philippines – The TV Patrol exclusive video shown Tuesday of a robbery suspect being tortured by an alleged police officer whipped a storm of condemnation in the Internet.

In TV Patrol’s chat held simultaneously nightly with the online live streaming of the newscast, participants minced no words condemning the brutality shown in the video.

One of the most scathing comments came from chat participant ‘Marianne’: “Ano ba ang tingin nila du’n, hayop na puwede nilang gawin kahit anong gusto nila? Kung ang aso nga ay minamahal bakit ang tao na kanilang kauri ay sinasaktan? Kahit naman makasalanan ang taong ‘yun hindi dapat ‘yun gawin sa kanya.”

“Grabe! High-level police brutality.. Hindi normal ang mga police na ganyan,” chat participant ‘Jill’ said.
“Ang brutaaaaaaaaal. Kawawa naman. Tao pa rin ‘yan. Nagkasala lang! Dapat hindi pa rin ginagawa yan!” ‘Aryan Meg’ said.

The comments moved even TV Patrol reporter Zen Hernandez, invited to Tuesday’s chat for a discussion on toll tax and increase in South Luzon Expressway toll - issues tackled in previous reports. Hernandez, observing the flow of comments on the video, said, “Mukhang marami ang uminit ang dugo at na-shock...”

In Twitter, many people tagged @TVPatrol in expressing their disgust and condemnation.

“OMG [Oh my God]. The torture video being shown @TVPatrol now. So inhumane... The police committed worse than war crimes.. OMG. @noynoyaquino,” said @jpreyes in a tweet where he also tagged the account of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

“@TVPatrol di ako maka-get over du’n sa news na torture ng pulis! They should be penalized! Justice should be given to the victim!” said @odieamejarito.

The video showed a naked man in a fetal position on the floor of an alleged police precinct, his genitals supposedly bound with a rope.

Another man wearing a white shirt and shorts is then seen whipping the victim's face and torso with a rope while heaping curses on him. "Dito bawal ang snatcher ha," the man said.

The man is also seen ordering the victim to remove his hands from his genitals while pulling the rope, making the victim cry out in pain.

The video also shows a police officer seemingly using his cell phone to text someone.
