2 instant millionaires for high-profile arrests
MANILA - The Philippine National Police (PNP) has turned over the reward money to 2 informants who provided information that led to the arrest of businessman Delfin Lee and New People’s Army leader Grayson Magranga Naogsan.
"Our two instant millionaires deserve every single centavo of the money they received for their courage to provide information that led to the arrest of Delfin Lee and Grayson Naogsan,” PNP Chief Director General Alan Purisima said.
The PNP had put a reward money of P2 million for Lee and Php 3.2 million for Naogsan.
The money came from the PNP Confidential Intelligence Fund.
Meanwhile, the reward money for the informant in the arrest of retired Major General Jovito Palparan has yet to be processed, Purisima said.
"We have strict procedures to follow so that the reward money will be released to the rightful claimant,” he said.
He said the reward money will be released immediately once the NHQ Reward Valuation Committee receives and deliberates on the application for reward money from the principal unit that made the arrest.
The PNP held simple rites at Camp Crame today for the informants on Lee’s and Naogsan’s arrests.
Naogsan was arrested in Baguio City by elements of the Intelligence Group, Police Regional Office Cordillera and ISAFP.
Lee, on the other hand, was arrested by elements of PNP Task Force Tugis at the lobby of Hyatt Hotel in Ermita, Manila on March 6, 2014.
Lee was one of the high-profile fugitives known as the Big 5.
The list includes Palparan, former Palawan Governor Mario Joel Reyes, Coron Mayor Mario Reyes, and Dinagat Rep. Ruben B Ecleo Jr.
