At least 3 dead due to Maring, habagat
MANILA - The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said three persons have died following heavy rains over Metro Manila and several areas in Luzon since Sunday.
In a report, NDRRMC Executive Director Eduardo del Rosario said the three have been identified as 30-year-old Franco Pedrito Cawayan who died in a vehicular accident in Cabugao, Apayao; 39-year-old Celedenonio Gamban, who drowned in Tanza, Cavite; and five-year-old Austin Guarismo Betasolo who was hit by a collapsed concrete fence.
Del Rosario said there are 4 people missing.
He said a total of 19,981 families have been affected in Regions I, III, IV-A and CAR.
The weather bureau issued a yellow rainfall alert on Monday afternoon.
This means moderate to heavy rainfalls will continue in Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Rizal, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon and Occidental Mindoro.
Several areas in Cavite and Laguna have already declared states of calamity as a result of the non-stop southwest monsoon rains.
