DOJ to file 2-3 cases over pork barrel scam: PNoy
MANILA - President Aquino said the Justice Department is expected to file two to three cases anytime soon in connection with the misuse of pork barrel funds.
Aquino's instruction is to prepare airtight cases.
Asked about his allies who would be proven to be involved in the misuse of the pork barrel, Aquino said, "Sinabi ko naman noong SONA.
Aquino reiterated his position and said that he is not in favor of proposals to abolish the pork barrel system.
He said that the PDAF system has its good uses as it allows local concerns otherwise unknown to the national government to be addressed.
He recalled that he had initially wanted not to use his PDAF allocation when he was still congressman but later realized that the pork barrel can be put to good use.
He said his PDAF was used to repair a flood-prone portion of the MacArthur Highway in Tarlac.
The President instead wants tighter monitoring and more stringent measures to prevent the fund's misuse.
