MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) - State weather bureau PAGASA on Tuesday night lowered the rainfall alert in Metro Manila and nearby provinces to a yellow warning.
This, amid rains spawned by the southwest monsoon (habagat) that has been made more intense by Tropical Storm Maring.
PAGASA, in an advisory issued 10:30 p.m., said moderate to heavy rains are expected over Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro for the next three hours.
"Flooding in low-lying areas," PAGASA warned.
Many parts of Metro Manila and central and southern Luzon remain flooded as heavy rains continued for a fourth day.
At least eight people have been confirmed dead while four others remain missing due to Tropical Storm Maring and the southwest monsoon, or habagat.
