PNoy says Lacson may probe pork scam
But anti-graft body still to be worked out
IMUS, CAVITE - President Aquino said the anti-corruption body envisioned to be headed by former Senator Panfilo Lacson may probe the pork barrel scam.
But Aquino said there is already an ongoing probe being conducted by the Department of Justice.
"It's possible. Pero ongoing na rin ngayon 'yung ginagawa ng DOJ," he told reporters after visiting evacuees in Tinabunan Elementary School.
In addition, he said, there is an existing mechanism that can look into it, referring to the Inter-agency Anti-Graft Coordinating Council (IAAGCC) composed of the Ombudsman, the DOJ, National Bureau of Investigation, Commission on Audit, and the Civil Service Commission.
"'Yun ang mekanismong naka-establish na sa gobyerno para talakayin ang ganitong sitwasyon," Aquino said.
There is still nothing final on the appointment of Lacson.
The President said he is still waiting for the Executive Secretary's recommendation about Lacson's proposed executive order detailing his job description.
"I will follow it up with the Executive Secretary. Medyo matagal-tagal na ring pending 'yung proposal ni Senator Lacson," he said.
Aquino said his office has been preoccupied with several intervening events such as the ship collision in Cebu, the recent floodings, and the pork barrel scam.
