Way Kurat's daughter slams COA
MANILA - Compostela Valley Rep. Maria Carmen Zamora lashed out at the Commission on Audit for its erroneous report claiming her father, former Rep. Manuel “Way Kurat” Zamora, received some P3 billion in pork barrel funds.
In a privilege speech, the younger Zamora said COA should just admit to its errors especially after former Budget Secretary Rolando Andaya and his successor, Butch Abad, pointed out the errors. "We now patiently await COA’s recognition of the mistake. People deserve a true accounting."
She noted they are now being criticized on social media. "All because COA issued a report without bothering to check.”
She blamed COA for the pain and suffering their family has suffered. "Damage has been done because of incompetence. COA, an institution, has made a mistake so glaring. It has shown itself to be incompetent by releasing inaccurate reports. A witch hunt founded on errors isn’t going to be of any help."
She wondered if the report was issued to muddle issues concerning Congress.
ABAKADA Party-list Rep. Jonathan dela Cruz suggested to his colleagues that a resolution for impeachment be filed against COA Chair Grace Pulido Tan. As head of a constitutional body, Tan is an impeachable officer.
