Lawmaker threatens to impeach COA chief
MANILA - ABAKADA party-list Rep. Jonathan dela Cruz wants Commission on Audit (COA) chair Grace Pulido Tan to apologize for the alleged errors in the special audit report of lawmakers' Priority Development Assistance Funds (PDAF).
Dela Cruz said an apology for the errors may convince lawmakers against pursuing impeachment raps against Tan.
Dela Cruz also wants COA Commissionner Heidi Mendoza accountable for the report, which dela Cruz said is not an audit report but a "mere list."
Mendoza reportedly headed the team that work on the special audit.
On Tuesday, former Compostela Valley Manuel "Way Kurat" Zamora's daughter, Rep. Carmen Zamora, delivered a privilege speech lambasting Tan for the erroneous report alleging her father received some P3 billion in pork barrel funds.
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) earlier owned up to the error.
Budget Secretary Butch Abad told ANC the DBM made a mistake in listing "Way Kurat" as having received P3 billion in pork barrel funds between 2007-2009.
Abad said when the Commission on Audit saw the same SARO number, it concluded that the DPWH project also belonged to Zamora.
He said the mistake happened during his predecessor's term.
Abad said he has informed COA about the error and has apologized to Zamora's daughter.
Pulido-Tan, in an earlier interview with radio dzMM, also criticized the DBM's record-keeping and called the agency "sloppy."
"Ang pangit ng records, very sloppy," she said.
