MANILA - Katrina Ponce-Enrile was just one of the recognizable faces and names at a star-studded clinic opening Thursday afternoon.

She openly spoke of her father, Juan Ponce-Enrile, who is detained at Camp Crame for plunder and graft charges in connection with the pork barrel scam.

She said her father's blood pressure remains high. The senator's health is being monitored by doctors.

"He's lost a lot of weight and his blood pressure is still erratic. They're trying to keep in under control, but I guess because of his age, it's really part and parcel, plus all the stress I guess and everything he's going through. But he's old and he needs medical attention but maybe that’s not the right medical attention," she said.

She said her father has been bothered more by boredom than his ailments.

She added that her father is writing another book to fend off boredom.

She said her father asked her to publish it only after he dies, making the contents of the new book a mystery to Katrina and other family members.

"I encouraged him to do something inside because he's not used to not doing stuff and when you confine him to a very small space and he’s so used to being very active," she said. "This is what he told me, he's gonna give it to me to publish when he's gone. So I don't know what he's writing."

Katrina visits her father three or four times a week.

Her mother, however, has not visited as much as she would like.

"My mom does visit but she has been very sickly. She's also lost a lot of weight. I guess they’re both affected very much. We don't know what’s wrong. She can’t take food well," she said.

Katrina believes her family will overcome their situation through faith and prayers. - report from Ginger Conejero, ABS-CBN News
