Hostage crisis affecting police morale, says PNP chief
MANILA, Philippines - The chief of the Philippine National Police admitted Wednesday that the August 23 hostage crisis is affecting the morale of the country's police force.
PNP chief Director General Jesus Verzosa officiated the launch of the National Crime Prevention Week on Wednesday morning after Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse Robredo failed to show up.
In an interview, a noticeably lackluster Verzosa admitted that low morale among policemen is now a concern after the police force was blamed for the bloody outcome of the hostage crisis. Nine people including hostage-taker Rolando Mendoza were killed in the August 23 hostage incident in Rizal Park.
Verzosa said he remains saddened by the event especially after being criticized for not taking charge of the hostage situation. He said he was closely monitoring the hostage crisis even while in Cagayan de Oro.
The PNP chief refused to comment on President Benigno Aquino's statement on the failure to use the Special Action Force during the crisis.
He said he will recommend to the Department of Justice to send police investigators to Hong Kong to interview survivors of the hostage-taking incident.
Asked about Robredo's absence during Wednesday's event, Verzosa said the DILG is already represented by the National Police Commission (Napolcom).
During the program, Napolcom vice-chairman Eduardo Escueta offered a moment of silence for the 8 Hong Kong tourists who were killed in the hostage incident.
Low morale is ok
After your commander in chief was nowhere to be found, probably puking somewhere after overeating during the crisis in a restaurant. It is now a challenge for the PNP to be more efficient, smarter and stronger because ABNoy has proven and demonstrated to the whole world his puny crisis mangement skills by smirking on the camera right after the carnage. Keep your heads up, its not the end of the world for all of you guys!
PNPinutil..
magaling sa porma sa kutong at torture yan ang PNP pero kung yong trabaho na nila, puro palpak na, kakahiya kayo sandamukal kayong mga basura..
LETTER TO RODOLFO MAGTIBAY & PNP CHIEF VERZOSA
There is no need to make an Apology Mr. Magtibay & Verzosa, you were just doing your job, by following the orders of your INCOMPETENT superiors (Mayor Lim & PNOY), lest you be accused by them of insubordination.
IT WAS THEIR DECISION to deploy your ill-equipped SWAT team, rather than the better-equipped SAF who were ready for the assault, and now you and your men are getting a MAJOR MAJOR GRILLING for it.
We appeal to you to highlight this in the DOJ investigation, please stop kis*ing the ass of your INCOMPETENT bosses, because they don’t care about you and your family, they only care about getting off the hook at the expense of you and your whole family’s reputation.
This is the only way to give true justice to our Chinese friends who needlessly got massacred that night, while PNOY & LIM were enjoying Chinese Fried Rice, Eggdrop Soup & Shrimp in Emerald Restaurant.
Paid Hack
Dear Pre Menstrual syndrome,
Are you still peddling bullsh*it and lies after all these years you inept GMA sycophant?

it's good for them to feel
it's good for them to feel low morale, at least they were feeling ashamed. what about the others that photos were taken at the bus? what about the chief PNP?
there was no explanation at all how they acted on that situation.
Low morale?
Kaya po ba nagpapicture yung ilang mga pulis dun sa tabi ng bus kasi nalulungkot sila?
Dominoe Effect!
I could still remember when, during the hostage crisis, the media asked Malacanang's comment on the possible effect of the crisis, they (Malacanang spokesperson) replied that "they don't think it would have any effect especially in the tourism industry because they consider it (nothing but) an isolated case". It's quite obvious from Malacanang's statement that they have no intention of lifting even a single finger in dealing with the hostage negotiations.
I would say "Good Leadership would almost always anticipate the worst in any crisis that would come his way and make the necessary preparations". Sorry folks, I think we're now feeling the burden of having "Incompetent" ....from tourism-OFWs-PNPs. Whos' next???
