MANILA, Philippines - Former United States Ambassador to the Philippines Kristie Kenney deceived Filipinos who have grown to love her, former President Joseph Estrada said.

He even called her an embarrassment to the US government because “she forgot the American ideals of democracy.”

In a statement, Estrada said, “the truth is that she was really not a friend of the Republic of the Philippines but only a friend of the unconstitutional, scandal-ridden and treasonous administration of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.”

He cited, in particular, Kenney’s alleged support for the Arroyo-sponsored Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain (MOA-AD), which would have given the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) full jurisdiction over a Bangsamoro homeland.

Kenney’s supposed actions were revealed by WikiLeaks, the anti-privacy website.

"Remember that this woman (Kenney) not only favored but joined GMA's efforts to push for the dismemberment our country. She was very visible in the grand conspiracy under the Arroyo Administration to dismember Mindanao and hand it on a silver platter to the MILF," Estrada said.

He noted Kenney’s extended presence in Mindanao during her stint as ambassador. He also noted she was in Kuala Lumpur to witness the signing of the MOA-AD before it was quashed by the Supreme Court.

Estrada also took offense to Kenney’s supposed statements that former President Cory Aquino was only a "partial icon of morality".

"This report shows that in her efforts to defend GMA, she deliberately misled the American government from seeing that former President Cory Aquino and our people were fighting for a real democracy for our country," Estrada said.

He said Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario is right. Del Rosario supposedly said Kenney was "a dismal failure" as an ambassador to the Philippines.
