MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang is hoping that the Commission on Appointments will also approve the appointments of other cabinet secretaries still waiting for confirmation.
“We would certainly hope that if there [are] no obstacles in the other cabinet secretaries, that they would find favor and confirm their appointments,” Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said.
Meantime, the Palace expects House appropriations committee chair Jun Abaya to sit as DOTC Secretary after the budget is passed at third reading in the Lower House.
Abaya is expected to no longer participate in the bicameral conference on the budget.
“By that time there will be a new chairman of the Appropriations Committee. Once he assumes office, he no longer sits as a congressman,” Lacierda said.
Lacierda said the Palace may forward the appointment papers of Abaya and Mar Roxas as DILG Secretary to the CA within this week.
